Cheese on Vacation

My husband surprised me with a weekend trip to Palm Springs for our anniversary. Since we do the exact same things on vacation that we do at home, we found ourselves at a barbecue restaurant in nearby Rancho Mirage, Babe's B-B-Que Grill.

For an appetizer, we ordered the Sweet Corn Tamale with Goat Cheese. It was topped with a Tex-Mex queso sauce, served on a bed of Spanish rice. The mild spice of the queso was the perfect complement to the sweet, rich tamale. We dug in and by the time we came up for air, all that was left was the cabbage garnish, so I apologize for not getting a picture.

If you are ever in Palm Springs, you might want to give Babe's a try. The barbecue was delicious, too. My husband said the pork tenderloin was the best he'd ever had.
